Christians and Work – “The End of Work”

Distinct Disciplesdistinctdisciples??Andrew Laird recently presented an overview of what the Bible teaches about work at Sydney Missionary and Bible College.?SMBC has made the audio of the lecture available here.

The lecture is divided into four parts:

  • Original Ends?(God?s original purposes?for work)
  • Frustrated Ends?(how those purposes have been frustrated by sin)
  • Renewed Ends?(how those purposes have been renewed by Jesus)
  • The End of Work?(how our daily labour can echo into eternity)

Vocation: What will I do with my 100,000 hours of working life?

I recall clearly after high school trying to decide which college I should attend to pursue a vocation in teaching. ?My calling (though I would probably not have used that term then) was clear – I wanted to be a teacher, a secondary maths/science teacher specifically. ?

But the big question was whether to head to the bright lights of Brisbane or the safer and more familiar environment of nearby Toowoomba. Funny, it does not sound like such a big question now.?

DistinctDisciples – an Australian website with a faith at work focus

It was really exciting to discover an emerging Australian website with a focus on encouraging Christians in the workplace.

The aim of?DistinctDisciples??is to ‘…?equip you with resources and content which inspires and encourages you to be distinct in your workplace. We have daily blog posts and tweets to get you thinking about what it might look like in the nitty-gritty of your workplace to live for Jesus. We also hope in the future to provide podcasts and short videos you can watch to inspire and encourage you.’

Here’s a little promotional video that explains their passion – one we strongly support here at Malyon Workplace.
